Rolf On Saturday, OK?
Rolf's sleeve notes -
Making the series “Rolf On Saturday, O.K?’ was a most thrilling experience - especially doing the
programmes in School Halls all round the country.
In each case the excitement seemed to take over the whole school in every aspect of the schoolwork for about a month
before the actual day of the show.
Trying to convince some of the children that it was really going to be on the REAL television that they would really
be able to see in their own homes was quite a job.
I must thank producer Jim Moir and the whole B.B.C. team who made the programmes possible. I must also thank all the
head-teachers of the participating schools and, in particular, mention the imaginative writing of Barry Booth, who did
so many of the orchestrations used on this recording.
Just to conclude, I’d like to quote one of the children, who was overheard after he had done his acting
bit’ and had changed out of his costume. He was standing, going over his lines after the event — perhaps
wondering how he should have delivered them — when suddenly he stopped and, addressing no one in particular,
said, “this has been the most wonderful day of my whole life!”
Enjoy it! ROLF
